Tendril is a vibrant and earthy composition of 30% Cabernet Franc and 70% Chambourcin, aged for three years in neutral French oak barrels.
The 2021 Chambourcin, grown at McClure Vineyard in Baltimore County, underwent whole-berry fermentation with native yeast before resting in barrel for 3.5 years. The 2022 Cabernet Franc, grown at Carroll Springs Vineyard in Carroll County, was fermented spontaneously using both whole-cluster and single-berry techniques, followed by 2.5 years in neutral oak. The result is an expressive wine with soft edges and delicate complexity.
Tendrils are the tiny, often-overlooked structures that allow grapevines to climb ever higher, spiraling upward in search of sunlight. Like its namesake, this wine reaches new heights, offering layers of cherries, black pepper, mocha, tobacco, and roses.
