Interestingly, the domaine bottling of Nuits St. Georges AC seems a bit riper in personality than the Maison version in 2020, but equally pure and precise. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a blend of black raspberries, cassis, balsam bough, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, just a dollop of new oak and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite sappy at the core, with really fine focus and balance, ripe, firm tannins, fine grip and a long, nascently complex and impressively cool finish. I did not make a note of the octane level for this wine, but I would guess it is around 14.5 percent in this vintage and yet carries itself very well indeed.
